The bright red brick building was the home of the Red October confectionery factory. This is where they made candies, pastila, cookies, sponge cakes, and gingerbread. The sweet treats were packaged in boxes adorned with silk, velvet, and leather. But even without fancy packaging, everyone knew one thing for sure: the tastiest candies came from here.

You know how to test a good caramel? At Red October, they had a trick: you had to drop the candy from at least the height of a person — a good candy should break into pieces.
