Zaryadye Park was built in place of the world’s largest hotel, the "Russia", which had 2 772 rooms and could accommodate 5 300 guests. The hotel even made it into the Guinness World Records.

Before the hotel was built, there were plans for an eighth Stalinist skyscraper here, but those plans never came to fruition.

Five hundred years ago, the area where Zaryadye Park now sits was occupied by trading rows, which is why it’s called "Zaryadye" - meaning "beyond the rows".

Construction of the park took three years, and today it spans 13 hectares of meticulously maintained land. The park showcases plants chosen by Russian experts that reflect the natural characteristics and diversity of all of the country’s climatic zones.

Within the park, you’ll find the Florarium — a multi-level greenhouse featuring plants from various natural zones of Russia. The Florarium uses aeroponics, a method of growing plants in an air environment without soil. Another unique feature is the Ice Cave, created by freezing over 70 tons of water. Visitors can explore a real icy maze illuminated by LED lights, although the temperature is kept at minus five degrees Celsius — so you won’t get really cold here!
